Xiaomi Redmi 4 leaks via GeekBench runs on Snapdragon 625

The Xiaomi Redmi 3 may be still respawning into different flavors such as Redmi 3S, Redmi 3 Pro and Redmi 3X, but it seems the company is already working on its official successor.

Xiaomi Redmi 4 was found recently inside the GeekBench results database and we can now shed some light on its specs. Contradicting the previous reports for Helio X20 chip, the Redmi 4 to pass the GeekBench test ran on Snapdragon 625 chip.

The Snapdragon 625 platform is somewhat of a direct successor to the 616 SoC powering the Redmi 3. It employs an octa-core Cortex-A53 processor clocked at 2GHz and a new Adreno 506 GPU. While the CPU A53 cores are of the same generation, the much higher CPU clock will surely make a difference. The LTE Cat.7 connectivity is also an upgrade over the Cat.4.

The Redmi 4 to pass through GeekBench featured 3GB RAM and running on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. Here is how it stacks agains t other siblings:

GeekBench 3 (multi-core)

Higher is better

  • Xiaomi Redmi 4 (S625)
    4751
  • Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 (Helio X10)
    4537
  • Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 (S650)
    3695
  • Xiaomi Redmi 3 Pro (S616)
    2874
  • Xiaomi Redmi 3 (S616)
    2842
  • Xiaomi Redmi 2 (S410)
    1460

GeekBench 3 (single-core)

Higher is better

  • Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 (S650)
    1543
  • Xiaomi Redmi 4 (S625)
    929
  • Xiaomi Redmi 3 Pro (S616)
    655

Indeed, there is quite a performance jump over the Redmi 3 and Redmi 3 Pro, as we suspected.

The Redmi 4 is expected to launch by the end of the year at about $150.
